This gap is also where the surplus escapes as flash. Under 0.3 mm the press can hydraulic-lock.

Ejector hole Pin hole through the die floor. Worth having: a cold pressed part grips hard and there is no draft to help it out.

Recycling mold

Print the die and piston in PETG or ASA, not PLA. Fill the die with shred, warm it until the charge is soft through, press, then clamp it and leave it until it is cold to the touch. Full method, material table and safety notes in the recycling guide.
