This custom cake topper generator turns a name into an SVG or DXF for your laser cutter. Type the name and an optional line such as Happy Birthday, add one or two stakes, and the letters are joined into one piece so the topper holds together. Cut lines are red and engraving is blue.
Yes. Designing and previewing are free and nothing is uploaded, because the design is built in your browser. Your first download is free, and further downloads need a free Meshcast account.
The SVG and DXF files use millimetres, with cut lines in red and engraving in blue. xTool Creative Space, Glowforge, LightBurn and Inkscape all open these formats. Check the size once on your first file, because a few programs apply their own import scale.
Use SVG for Glowforge, xTool and Inkscape. Use DXF for LightBurn, CAD programs and cutters that prefer it. Both hold the same outlines.
Script fonts have gaps where one letter ends and the next begins, so a cut name can fall apart into loose letters. Raise the Join letters slider, or thicken the letters with Letter weight, until the warning goes away. For block fonts, where the letters never touch, turn on Base bar to join them along the bottom.
The topper is not designed for food contact. Laser cutting can leave scorch marks and residue on wood, and glues and acrylic are not rated as food safe. Keep the stakes out of the cake itself, for example by pushing them into a covered cake board, or wrap them in food-safe film.
