This laser cut Christmas ornament generator turns a name into a cut-ready file. Choose a circle, bauble, star or name outline, set the size of the hanging hole, and download an SVG or DXF with the cut lines in red and any engraving in blue. The design is built in your browser as you type.
Yes. Designing and previewing are free and nothing is uploaded, because the design is built in your browser. Your first download is free, and further downloads need a free Meshcast account.
The SVG and DXF files use millimetres, with cut lines in red and engraving in blue. xTool Creative Space, Glowforge, LightBurn and Inkscape all open these formats. Check the size once on your first file, because a few programs apply their own import scale.
Use SVG for Glowforge, xTool and Inkscape. Use DXF for LightBurn, CAD programs and cutters that prefer it. Both hold the same outlines.
Script fonts have gaps where one letter ends and the next begins, so a cut name can fall apart into loose letters. Raise the Join letters slider, or thicken the letters with Letter weight, until the warning goes away. With a circle, bauble or star base the name layer is glued on, so loose letters are fine there: the engraved outline shows where each one goes.
Most people use 3 mm birch plywood. Thin acrylic works too, and so does thin basswood. Enter your real thickness and kerf in the Material section so the parts come out at the right size.
