Meshcast is an independent project that turns any 3D model, or a shape you sketch, into a print-ready mold in your browser. No software to install, no CAD to learn, no render farm. Just upload, tweak, and download an STL you can print tonight.
Why it exists
If you make candles, soap, resin, concrete, chocolate or pottery, the hardest part is rarely the pour, it’s getting a good mold. The usual options are buying whatever shape a store happens to stock, or learning CAD software built for engineers, not makers.
Meshcast exists to delete that step. Every tool takes the model or shape you already have and does the fiddly mold geometry for you, the parting lines, the registration keys, the draft, the vents, so you get a clean, printable mold and can get back to actually making things.

When you hit a bug or a model that won’t cooperate, you reach the person who builds the tool, not a ticket queue. Reports turn into fixes.
Who’s behind it
Meshcast is built and run by one maker, with a lot of help from the community that sends feedback, bug reports and photos of what they’ve cast. It isn’t a venture-backed company or a big team, it’s a focused tool made by someone who wanted it to exist.
Meshcast started because its first maker kept wanting to cast their own pieces and couldn’t find a simple way to make the mold without wrestling CAD software. So the tool got built, and a new one gets added every time a maker asks “can it also do…”. Since October 2026 I run it.
Most of what people make here ends up as a gift or somewhere at home: candles for family, plaster pots and bowls, pumpkins in October. Some sell what they make, at markets, on Etsy or in their own shop.
