3D render of a red 3D printed Christmas stocking ornament with white snow dots, a white cuff and the name Mia in white script, lying flat
Print only ~10 g

A little Christmas stocking to hang on the tree or tie to a present: red with raised white snow dots, a white cuff and trim round the edge and "Mia" in white script across the foot, with a loop at the top for a ribbon. The file says Mia; open it in the free tool and type any name instead.

Made with our free Christmas ornament generator, not modelled by hand: we picked the stocking shape, the name "Mia" in the Retro Script font and the Snow dots pattern. Everything else is the tool's default. The zip holds exactly what the tool exports: a 3MF with every part in its own colour, and the same print as one STL. Like every free download from the tool, it carries a small MESHCAST mark where it does not show.

Print it flat, face up, with no supports, thread a ribbon through the loop and it is on the tree the same evening. Print one for everyone at the table, or open the tool and change the words first.

Shown as a 3D render of the printed ornament, lying flat as it comes off the bed, not a photo.

Christmas stocking name ornament at a glance: every printed part with its size, print time, filament, print settings and the three steps to use it

What you need

2
  • About 10 g of PLA, in three colours or one
  • A ribbon, twine or an ornament hook

How to make it

4
  1. Print it flat, face up, as exported. No supports.

  2. For two colours on one nozzle, change filament at the height in the README: the letters and the trim start there.

  3. Pull off any stringing round the letters with tweezers.

  4. Thread a ribbon, twine or an ornament hook through the loop at the top.

Questions about this design

Can I use the Christmas stocking name ornament as a gift tag?

Yes, it makes a good one. Print one per present with the name of whoever it is for, thread the ribbon of the parcel through the loop, and it goes on the tree afterwards. Print them in one colour and they still read, since the letters stand proud.

How long does the Christmas stocking name ornament take to print?

About 25 min and 10 g of PLA at 0.2 mm layers, estimated from the files rather than sliced, so a current printer is often faster. It prints flat in one piece with no supports, so it suits a first print on any printer.

How big is the Christmas stocking name ornament, and can I make it bigger?

It is 57 by 88 mm and 3.4 mm thick. To change that, open the free Christmas ornament generator from this page and move the size slider; the rest of the design follows, and you download the new file in a minute.
