The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The bow's loops stand in the plane of the seam, so their holes run the way the mold opens, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

A present that is itself a present: pour it red and paint the ribbon gold, or white with a red ribbon, and give it in a clear box. The zip carries both halves, the gift box master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

How this mold works

What you need

3
  • About 176 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 195 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 60 mm candle, about 90 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

5
  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports. PETG takes hot wax best.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor, close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets, trim the wick at the knot of the bow and paint the ribbon if you like.

Questions about this design

How do I paint the ribbon on the gift box candle?

Pour the box in one colour, let it cool fully, then paint the raised ribbon and the bow with candle paint or acrylic mixed with candle medium, using a small flat brush. Gold on red, red on white and silver on navy all read well from across a room.

Where does the wick come out of the gift box candle?

Out of the knot of the bow, where the pour funnel sits. Drop a tabbed wick in before you close the halves so the tab sits in the middle of the box floor. The box is about 60 mm wide, so a wick sized for a 60 mm pillar burns it evenly.

Can I make the gift box candle in two colours?

Yes. Pour the box most of the way in white, let it set until firm, then top it up in red: the lid and bow come out red over a white box. Or keep one colour and dip only the top in a contrasting overdip wax.
