A Christmas tree taper candle 198 mm tall: eight stacked tiers, each with a rounded skirt, shrinking from 36 mm across at the bottom to 14 mm near the top, a small ball where the wick comes out, and a 22 mm plug at the foot that fits a standard taper holder or candlestick.

The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The taper is turned, so every tier releases straight out of the split, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

Tree tapers are one of the season's best sellers: pour them in forest green, white or gold and set two or three on the Christmas table, or tie a pair with ribbon as a gift. The zip carries both halves, the taper master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

How this mold works

What you need

3
  • About 61 g of pillar or taper wax: the cavity holds 68 ml
  • A primed square-braid wick for a 22 mm taper, about 230 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

5
  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports. PETG takes hot wax best.

  2. Lay the wick in one half so it runs from the funnel to the foot, close the halves over it and band them along the whole seam. Pull the wick taut and clip it across the funnel.

  3. Pour at 65 to 75 C in a thin stream, and tap the mold so the tiers fill.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets, trim the wick at the ball and level the foot on a warm pan if it needs it.

Questions about this design

Does the Christmas tree taper fit a normal candlestick?

Yes. Its foot is a 22 mm plug, 20 mm tall, the 7/8 inch size standard taper holders and candlesticks take. If a holder is tight, warm the plug for a few seconds in your hand or shave it with a knife.

Which wick does the Christmas tree taper candle need?

A square-braid cotton wick sized for a 7/8 inch taper, primed, cut about 230 mm long so it runs the whole 198 mm and leaves a tail at the funnel. Thread it before you close the halves and keep it taut while you pour, so it stays in the middle of every tier.

How do I give the Christmas tree tapers a frosted look?

Pour them in green, let them cool fully, then dip each one quickly into white overdip wax at about 80 C and lift it straight out. The white catches on the tier edges like snow. A dusting of fine glitter on the warm wax adds sparkle.
