3D render of a navy faceted 3D printed Christmas bauble with a raised silver snowflake on the front and a neck for an ornament cap
Print only ~85 g

A real round bauble you print yourself: an 80 mm navy ball cut into crisp facets like a piece of ice, with a smooth panel on the front and a raised silver snowflake on it, and a neck on top for a standard metal ornament cap. It prints in two flat halves that line up on filament pins, so there is no support anywhere and the seam runs round the side where the tree hides it.

Made with our free bauble designer, not modelled by hand: we picked the ball shape, the Hex pattern, the snowflake motif with no name, and the navy and silver colour set. Everything else is the tool's default. The zip holds exactly what the tool exports: a 3MF with every part in its own colour, and the same print as one STL. Like every free download from the tool, it carries a small MESHCAST mark where it does not show.

Print the two halves on their flat faces, push filament pins into one, glue the rims and fit a metal ornament cap in the neck. It hangs like a glass bauble and survives being dropped.

Shown as a 3D render of the printed bauble, its two halves put together, not a photo.

Questions about this design

How do the two halves of the Snowflake Christmas bauble go together?

Each half has three holes in its flat face for pins made of 1.75 mm filament. Cut three 5.5 mm pieces, push them into one half, put a thin line of superglue gel on the rim and press the other half on. The pins line the halves up exactly, and the seam ends up round the side of the bauble.

How long does the Snowflake Christmas bauble take to print?

About 4 h and 85 g of PLA at 0.2 mm layers, estimated from the files rather than sliced, so a current printer is often faster. The two halves print side by side on their flat faces with no supports.

How big is the Snowflake Christmas bauble, and can I make it bigger?

It is 80 by 80 mm and 85 mm tall. To change that, open the free bauble designer from this page and move the size slider; the rest of the design follows, and you download the new file in a minute.
