A soap bar 87 x 58 mm and about 24 mm high shaped like one very large chicken nugget: a lumpy outline, a breadcrumb coating all over the top and a bite taken out of one corner.

Made with the box mode of our silicone mold maker in its contoured shape: print the base with the soap master fused onto it face up, the two walls and the clamps, pour about 376 ml of silicone, and the block you get casts the bar face down, so the breadcrumb top comes out on the show face and the back stays flat.

Food soaps that are not food are some of the best-selling novelty bars, and a nugget is the one people pick up and laugh at. Pour it golden orange; a sweet or smoky scent sells the joke, a clean one keeps it soap. The zip carries every printed part, the soap master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

What you need

  • About 410 ml of silicone (mix it in one batch)
  • Melt-and-pour soap base, about 57 ml per bar
  • Golden orange soap colour, a fragrance and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle

How to cast it

  1. Print the base with the master fused onto it, the two walls and the two clamps.

  2. Stand the walls on the base, slide the clamps over the corners, and seal the outside seams with tape or hot glue.

  3. Mix 410 ml of silicone in one batch and pour it into a corner, letting it rise around the master until it covers the top.

  4. Once it has cured, take the clamps and walls off and pull the silicone block off the master. That block is your mold.

  5. Turn the block over. Spray the cavity with alcohol so the soap runs into the crumb texture, pour melt-and-pour soap at 55 to 60 C, spray again and let it set for a few hours.

  6. Flex the silicone and push the nugget out from the back.

Questions about this design

How do I make the chicken nugget soap look golden fried?

Use an opaque base, a golden yellow colour and a touch of orange or brown. For a deeper crust, brush a little darker mica into the empty cavity before you pour: it sits on the breadcrumb peaks.

Could someone mistake a chicken nugget soap for food?

It is realistic enough to be the joke, so label and package it clearly as soap, keep it away from small children and do not display it with real food at a market.

Can I make a dipping sauce pot to go with the nugget soap?

Pour a little orange or red soap into any small round silicone cup and set the nugget next to it in the box. It turns one bar into a gift set.
