Made with our free stamp maker, not modelled by hand: we drew the picture in code, uploaded it and set the circle shape to 56 mm across, with the relief at 3 mm, the deepest it goes; the page traced it into the raised face. The zip holds exactly what the tool gives you: a stamp plate with a 3 mm raised face and a handle that screws into its back, as one STL, and as a 3MF with the face, plate and handle as separate coloured parts. The page mirrors the face, so the mark reads the right way round, and flares every raised wall a little toward the plate, which helps the stamp let go of a bar of soap. The picture is in the zip too, so you can change it and make your own.

What you need

  • Soap to stamp: freshly cut cold process bars, or melt and pour bars once they have set
  • Cornstarch, or a light oil, for the stamp face, so it lets go of the soap cleanly
  • About 17 g of filament: PETG for the plate, PLA or PETG for the handle

How to use it

  1. Print both parts as exported: the plate face down on the bed, the handle standing on its foot, no supports.

  2. Screw the handle into the back of the plate until it is snug.

  3. Dust the face with cornstarch, or wipe on a thin film of oil.

  4. Set the stamp square on the bar, press straight down firmly and evenly, and lift it straight up.

  5. Brush soap out of the letters between bars, then rinse the stamp and let it dry.

Questions about this design

Does the natural soap stamp work on melt and pour soap?

Yes, once the bar has fully set, usually after a few hours. Warm the surface for a second with a hair dryer on low, press the stamp straight down and lift it straight up. Glycerine bases can be tacky, so dust the face with cornstarch first.

Can I use the natural soap stamp on shampoo bars?

Yes. Solid shampoo and conditioner bars are pressed while still slightly soft, and the deep relief leaves a clear mark in them. Stamp them before they dry out completely, or the edges of the leaves can crack.

Which filament should I print the natural soap stamp in?

PETG for the plate: soap is wet and alkaline, and PETG takes both far better than PLA. The handle never touches the soap, so PLA is fine there. Skip TPU for this one: a soft face flexes and blurs the mark in firm soap.
