Cookie dough Pro early access

An eight-petal daisy with a round centre and rounded petal tips. The petals are spaced so each one bakes on its own, which keeps them from merging into a blob in the oven. Good for spring parties, Mother's Day, garden weddings and teacher gifts. The cookie comes out about 80 by 80 mm.

Made with our free cookie cutter generator, not modelled by hand: we drew the silhouette, uploaded it to the tool and set the cutter size to 80 mm. The STL in the zip is exactly what the tool gives you: a 0.8 mm blade, 14 mm tall, with a 4 mm rim to press on, exported rim down so it prints without supports. The silhouette is in the zip too, as an SVG, so you can make it bigger, smaller or add a matching stamp.

Press a candy-coated chocolate or a dollop of lemon curd into the middle straight after baking, while the cookie is still soft.

Shown as a 3D render of the printed cutter and two cookies in its shape, not a photo.

What you need

  • Rolled cookie dough that holds its shape: sugar cookie or gingerbread, with little or no baking powder
  • A rolling pin, and two 5 to 6 mm guides for an even thickness
  • Flour for dipping the cutter, and baking paper
  • About 9 g of PLA or PETG, ideally a food-contact filament

How to use it

  1. Print the cutter as exported: rim flat on the bed, blade pointing up, no supports.
  2. Wash it in warm soapy water before the first use.
  3. Roll the chilled dough 5 to 6 mm thick between two sheets of baking paper.
  4. Dip the blade in flour, press straight down with your palm on the rim, and lift.
  5. Chill the cut cookies for ten minutes, then bake.
  6. Wash the cutter by hand straight after use and let it dry. PLA softens in a dishwasher.

Questions about this design

How do I stop the daisy petals from merging in the oven?

Use a dough with no raising agent and chill the cut flowers before baking. The gaps between these petals are wide enough to survive a little spread, but a dough that puffs will still close them.

Can I make sandwich cookies with the daisy cutter?

Yes. Cut two daisies, punch a small round out of the middle of one with a bottle cap, bake both, and sandwich them with jam. The jam shows through the hole as the flower's centre.

Can I make the daisy flower cutter bigger or smaller?

Yes. Upload daisy.svg from the zip to the free cookie cutter generator and move the Cutter size slider (this one is 80 mm). You can also switch on a matching stamp there, or change the blade height and rim.
