3D render of five 3D-printed Christmas ornament cookie cutters with their stamps and a golden stamped cookie in front of each: round bauble, drop bauble, onion bauble, icicle ornament and heart ornament
Cookie dough ~92 g

Five tree ornaments to bake instead of hang: a round bauble with a zigzag band, a drop with curved stripes, an onion dome with a wavy band, a long icicle ornament with rings and a heart with a smaller heart inside, every one with its little cap on top. Every cutter has a stamp that presses the bands, stripes and dots into the cut cookie, so each ornament is ready to flood in its own colour. Good for Christmas cookie boxes, cookie decorating parties, advent weekends, school bake sales and edible tree decorations.

All five were made with our free cookie cutter generator, not modelled by hand: we drew each shape with its stamp's lines inside it and uploaded it with Generate stamp switched on. The zip holds exactly what the tool gives you, one STL per shape with the cutter (a 0.8 mm blade, 14 mm tall, with a 4 mm rim to press on) and its stamp side by side, plus each drawing as an SVG. The cookies come out 82 x 90 mm (round bauble), 69 x 90 mm (drop bauble), 72 x 90 mm (onion bauble), 49 x 95 mm (icicle ornament) and 71 x 85 mm (heart ornament).

Flood each ornament in a different colour and let it crust, then fill only the pressed bands with gold or silver: brush edible lustre dust mixed with a drop of alcohol into the grooves. Leave the caps plain grey or dusted silver and the cookies look like a box of glass baubles.

The cutters and stamps print flat with no supports, in PLA or PETG. A cutter touches dough for a minute, but a 3D print has fine layer grooves where crumbs can sit: pick a food-contact filament if you can, wash each part by hand in warm soapy water before and after use, never in a dishwasher, and flour the blade and stamp before every press.

Shown as a 3D render of the five printed cutters, their stamps and a stamped cookie from each, not a photo.

Christmas ornament cookie cutter set with stamps at a glance: every printed part with its size, print time, filament, print settings and the three steps to use it

What you need

4
  • Rolled cookie dough that holds its shape: sugar cookie, shortbread or gingerbread, with little or no baking powder
  • A rolling pin, and two 5 to 6 mm guides for an even thickness
  • Flour or cornflour for dusting the cutters and the stamps, and baking paper
  • About 92 g of PLA or PETG for the whole set, ideally a food-contact filament

How to use it

7
  1. Print each file as exported: the cutter rim flat on the bed with the blade pointing up, and its stamp beside it, no supports.

  2. Wash every part in warm soapy water before the first use.

  3. Roll the chilled dough 5 to 6 mm thick between two sheets of baking paper.

  4. Dip a cutter's blade in flour, press straight down with your palm on the rim, and lift.

  5. Dust its stamp, press it into each cookie that cutter cut, about 2 mm deep, and lift it straight up.

  6. Chill the stamped cookies for ten minutes, then bake.

  7. Wash the parts by hand straight after use and let them dry. PLA softens in a dishwasher.

Free for personal use. Selling the printed piece itself needs a commercial licence (Pro or Founder); passing on the file is not permitted on any plan. Full terms.

Food contact: the cutter only touches dough briefly, but layer lines hold residue. Print it in a food-contact filament, wash it by hand in warm water, and keep it away from the dishwasher. Food-safe guide.

Questions about this design

Which shapes are in the Christmas ornament cookie cutter set?

Five baubles, each with a cap and a matching stamp: a round bauble with a zigzag band, a drop with curved stripes, an onion dome with a wavy band, a long icicle ornament with rings and a heart with a heart inside it.

Can the Christmas ornament cookies hang on the tree?

Yes, they are made for it. Push a drinking straw through the cap of each cut cookie before baking to leave a hole, bake, and thread a ribbon through once cool. Iced and dry, they keep on the tree for a couple of weeks in a cool room.

How do I get metallic bands on the Christmas ornament cookie cutter set cookies?

Let the flooded icing dry overnight, then paint the pressed bands and dots with edible gold or silver lustre dust mixed into a paste with a few drops of vodka or lemon extract. The grooves hold the paint, so a steady hand is not needed.

Can I make the cutters in the Christmas ornament cookie cutter set bigger or smaller?

Yes. Every drawing is in the zip as an SVG: upload one to the free cookie cutter generator, switch on Generate stamp and move the Cutter size slider (these are 85 to 95 mm). The stamp scales with its cutter, so its lines still fit the cookie.
