Hanukkah cookie cutter set with stamps

Six Hanukkah cookie cutters with stamps: menorah, dreidel, Star of David, oil jug, sufganiyah and gelt coin.

3D render of six 3D-printed Hanukkah cookie cutters with their stamps and a golden stamped cookie in front of each: menorah, dreidel, Star of David, oil jug, sufganiyah and gelt coin
Cookie dough ~119 g

Six shapes for the eight nights: a menorah with nine flames and a taller shamash, a dreidel with the letter nun, a Star of David with a second star pressed inside it, a little oil jug with its flame, a jam-filled sufganiyah dusted with sugar and a gelt coin with a star in the middle. Every cutter has a stamp that presses the candles, the letter, the inner star or the sugar into the cut cookie. Good for Hanukkah parties, the eight nights of candle lighting, school holiday baking, family gatherings and gift tins.

All six were made with our free cookie cutter generator, not modelled by hand: we drew each shape with its stamp's lines inside it and uploaded it with Generate stamp switched on. The zip holds exactly what the tool gives you, one STL per shape with the cutter (a 0.8 mm blade, 14 mm tall, with a 4 mm rim to press on) and its stamp side by side, plus each drawing as an SVG. The cookies come out 94 x 95 mm (menorah), 55 x 85 mm (dreidel), 79 x 90 mm (Star of David), 63 x 85 mm (oil jug), 80 x 71 mm (sufganiyah) and 80 x 80 mm (gelt coin).

Ice the menorahs, dreidels and stars in blue and white and brush the gelt coins with gold lustre dust mixed with a drop of clear alcohol once the icing has set; a tin with all six shapes on blue tissue paper makes a Hanukkah gift on its own.

The cutters and stamps print flat with no supports, in PLA or PETG. A cutter touches dough for a minute, but a 3D print has fine layer grooves where crumbs can sit: pick a food-contact filament if you can, wash each part by hand in warm soapy water before and after use, never in a dishwasher, and flour the blade and stamp before every press.

Shown as a 3D render of the six printed cutters, their stamps and a stamped cookie from each, not a photo.

Hanukkah cookie cutter set with stamps at a glance: every printed part with its size, print time, filament, print settings and the three steps to use it

What you need

4
  • Rolled cookie dough that holds its shape: sugar cookie, shortbread or gingerbread, with little or no baking powder
  • A rolling pin, and two 5 to 6 mm guides for an even thickness
  • Flour or cornflour for dusting the cutters and the stamps, and baking paper
  • About 119 g of PLA or PETG for the whole set, ideally a food-contact filament

How to use it

7
  1. Print each file as exported: the cutter rim flat on the bed with the blade pointing up, and its stamp beside it, no supports.

  2. Wash every part in warm soapy water before the first use.

  3. Roll the chilled dough 5 to 6 mm thick between two sheets of baking paper.

  4. Dip a cutter's blade in flour, press straight down with your palm on the rim, and lift.

  5. Dust its stamp, press it into each cookie that cutter cut, about 2 mm deep, and lift it straight up.

  6. Chill the stamped cookies for ten minutes, then bake.

  7. Wash the parts by hand straight after use and let them dry. PLA softens in a dishwasher.

Food contact: the cutter only touches dough briefly, but layer lines hold residue. Print it in a food-contact filament, wash it by hand in warm water, and keep it away from the dishwasher. Food-safe guide.

Questions about this design

What is in the Hanukkah cookie cutter set?

Six cutters with matching stamps: a menorah, a dreidel, a Star of David, an oil jug, a sufganiyah and a gelt coin. The stamps press in the candles and flames, the letter nun, an inner star, the jug band and flame, the jam and sugar, and the coin rim with its star.

Will the flames on the Hanukkah menorah cookie cutter bake properly?

Yes. The nine flames are drawn joined along the top of the candles, so the menorah is one solid cookie with a scalloped edge rather than nine thin sticks. Chill the cut cookie for ten minutes before baking and the flames keep their shape.

Can I make the Hanukkah cookie cutter set dairy free?

The cutters work with any rolled dough, so use a sugar cookie made with oil or a plant butter instead of butter. Keep it chilled before cutting, because a soft dairy-free dough releases from the stamp less cleanly than a firm one.

Can I make the cutters in the Hanukkah cookie cutter set bigger or smaller?

Yes. Every drawing is in the zip as an SVG: upload one to the free cookie cutter generator, switch on Generate stamp and move the Cutter size slider (these are 80 to 95 mm). The stamp scales with its cutter, so its lines still fit the cookie.
