The stop sign everyone recognises: a solid octagon with a thin inner line and STOP in bold capitals, printed white out of red. Stamp over mistakes in homework, on do-not-open envelopes, on a road-themed kids' party invitation or in a travel journal.

Made with our free stamp maker, not modelled by hand: we drew the picture in code, uploaded it, and set the circle shape to 44 mm across; the page traced it into the raised face. The zip holds exactly what the tool gives you: a stamp plate with a 2 mm raised face and a handle that screws into its back, as one STL, and as a 3MF with the face, plate and handle as separate coloured parts. The picture is in the zip too, so you can change it and make your own.

What you need

  • A stamp pad in the colour you like (water-based for paper, pigment or solvent for glossy card)
  • About 13 g of filament: TPU 95A for the plate gives the best print, PLA or PETG work too
  • Paper, card, kraft bags or tags to stamp on

How to use it

  1. Print both parts as exported: the plate face down on the bed, the handle standing on its foot, no supports.

  2. Screw the handle into the back of the plate until it is snug.

  3. Tap the face on the stamp pad a few times so every part of it is evenly inked.

  4. Press straight down with even pressure and lift straight up, without rocking.

  5. Wipe the face with a damp cloth after use, and store it face up.

Questions about this design

Why does the stop sign stamp print a big solid area?

The octagon is solid, like the real sign, with STOP and the inner line knocked out. A solid area needs an evenly inked pad: tap the stamp on the pad a few times rather than pressing once, then press it down firmly and evenly.

Is the stop sign stamp artwork free to use?

Yes. We drew it in code from simple shapes and a free font, not from a photo or a road-sign file, and the drawing is in the zip. The printed stamp and what you stamp with it are yours to use under the licence in the zip.

Can I print the stop sign stamp in one colour?

Yes. The STL is the plate and the handle in one file for any printer. The 3MF keeps the raised face, the plate and the handle as separate parts, so a multi-colour printer can print the face in a contrasting colour and you can read the stamp at a glance.
