A strawberry candle 76 mm tall and 68 mm across: a plump heart-shaped berry with raised seeds over the front and back, a five-pointed star of leaves on its shoulders and a short stem the wick comes out of. The tip is cut flat so it stands.

The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The seam runs down the sides of the berry, where there are no seeds, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

Fruit candles sell all year, strawberries most of all in spring and summer. Pour it red and paint the leaves green, or pour it in pastel pink. The zip carries both halves, the strawberry master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

What you need

  • About 138 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 154 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 55 mm candle, about 90 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor, close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets and trim the wick just above the stem. Paint the leaves green if you like.

Questions about this design

Why are there no seeds down the sides of the strawberry?

The mold splits down the sides. Raised seeds right on that line would be smeared into bars by a rigid split, so they are on the front and the back only. From any normal viewing angle the berry looks seeded all over.

How do I colour the strawberry candle?

Pour it in red, then paint the leaves and stem green and dab the seeds with a pale yellow once it is cool. Or pour it in a soft pink and leave it plain for a pastel look.

Does the strawberry go with the other fruit candle molds?

Yes, it is the same scale as the apple, pear and lemon candle molds, so together they make a fruit bowl set.
