An avocado candle 90 mm tall: the classic pear shape cut in half, with a raised skin rim around the flesh and the round pit sitting proud in the middle, wearing a happy little kawaii face with rosy cheeks. The back is the smooth, rounded skin.

The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The cut face looks straight out of the front half and the skin out of the back one, so nothing hooks, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

A gift for the friend who puts avocado on everything, a brunch table or a kitchen windowsill. Pour it in avocado green and paint the pit brown, or pour it in one pastel colour. The zip carries both halves, the avocado master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

What you need

  • About 90 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 100 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 60 mm candle, about 110 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor, close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets and trim the wick. Paint the pit brown and the skin rim dark green if you like.

Questions about this design

How do I colour the pit and skin on the avocado candle?

Pour the whole avocado in a soft green, then paint the pit with brown candle paint and the raised skin rim with a darker green once it is out. The pit and the rim are raised, so a small flat brush stays on them easily.

Does the avocado candle stand up on its own?

Yes. It stands on a flat base at the wide end, with the cut face looking forward. The wick comes out of the narrow top, so it burns down from the neck like any pillar.

Can I make the avocado face on the pit stand out more?

Once the candle is out, fill the eyes and the smile with a drop of black wax or a fine black paint pen made for candles, and dab a touch of pink on the cheeks. The face is pressed into the pit, so the colour stays in the lines.
