◆ Candle wax
Printed two-part housing that casts your own silicone Buddha mold. Then pour wax candles in it.
A two-part printed housing that you pour your own flexible silicone mold in, around a small Buddha bust. Once the silicone has cured and the housing comes off, you have a reusable mold that turns out a new wax Buddha candle every time you pour, for the cost of the wax.
A ready-made silicone Buddha mold costs 25 to 50 dollars online, and you get whatever size and detail the seller picked. Making your own means you keep the housing too. It goes back around the silicone for every wax pour and holds the soft mold in shape, so the candle does not come out warped.
The housing puts the Buddha in the same place and closes around it the same way every time, so the silicone ends up even all round instead of thin on one side.
Everything prints without supports: the base with the bust on it, the two shells and eight clips, about 9 hours on the listing's own profile. The finished candles make a good gift for a meditation corner, a housewarming, or a candle-making kit.
Set the Buddha master in the housing, close the two halves around it and clamp or band them shut so nothing leaks at the seam.
Mix the silicone at the ratio on the bottle and pour it slowly through the top opening, tapping the housing to push bubbles out.
Let it cure as long as the bottle says, usually 12 to 24 hours. Then unclamp, pull off the housing and ease the master out. What is left is your silicone mold.
Thread a wick through the top of the silicone mold and hold it straight with a wick pin or centering tool.
Slide the silicone mold back into the housing and clamp it again, so the soft mold cannot sag while it is full of hot wax.
Pour the melted wax slowly through the top, tapping out bubbles, and let it cool fully at room temperature.
Unclamp, slide the silicone out of the housing and peel it back to release the candle.

Because a Buddha-sized silicone mold is soft enough to bulge once it is full of hot wax, and a bulging mold gives you a lopsided candle. Slid back into the housing and clamped, it keeps exactly the shape it cured in. That is also why the housing is worth printing in PETG if you plan to make a lot of candles.
The texture comes from the inside of the silicone mold, which copied whatever the master looked like. Spray the master with release agent before the next silicone pour, and sand or prime it if you can see layer lines on it. Treating the silicone before a wax pour does not change the finish.
It does set faster, but the outside cools much quicker than the middle and the candle can crack. Leave it at room temperature. A slow cool is also what keeps a dip from forming in the base.
Yes. Leave out the wick and pour melt-and-pour soap or plaster instead, and you get a solid decor piece rather than a candle. Plaster needs release agent in the silicone first.
