The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The seam runs down the sides of the pillar, so the whole face sits in the front half, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

Sculptural face candles are bought as decor first: pour it in cream, clay or charcoal and it reads like a small bust on a shelf. The zip carries both halves, the pillar master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

What you need

  • About 229 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 254 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 60 mm pillar, about 110 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor, close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets and trim the wick.

Questions about this design

How do I make the face stand out on the face pillar candle?

Dry-brush a slightly darker mica or candle paint over the face once the candle is out. It catches the nose, lips and brows and leaves the lash lines lighter, like a real sculpture.

Will the face melt away when I light the face pillar?

The wick burns a pool in the middle first; with a wick sized for a 55 to 60 mm pillar the outer wall, and the face on it, stays standing for a long time. Many people keep face candles as decor and never light them.

How much wax does the face pillar take?

About 229 g of pillar wax, 254 ml. Pour at 75 to 80 C so the wax fills the lash line and the corners of the lips.
