The F is an open letter with two arms and no closed shape, so it is a single opening in the cap with no stencil bridges at all. It reads clearly even from a distance, and there is nothing inside it to snap off when you press the cap onto the ball. The letter comes out about 15 mm wide and 22 mm tall, measured over the ball's surface. Every letter in this set uses the same font and the same letter height, so a set of balls marked with different letters matches.

Made with our free golf ball stencil generator, not modelled by hand: we typed F into its Initials field, chose the Bold & Blocky font and set Size to 22 mm. Everything else is the tool's default, and the STL in the zip is exactly what the tool gives you: a 71 by 48 mm cap for a standard 42.67 mm ball, with a 2.4 mm wall, 0.5 mm of clearance, a skirt that reaches 12 degrees past the middle of the ball so it cups it, and two tabs with 7 mm holes for a rubber band. Like every free download from the tool, it carries a small raised MESHCAST mark on its underside, along one tab.

Seat it on the ball, draw through the opening with a fine permanent marker, lift it off, and the ball is marked in a few seconds, the same way every time. Want your initials on one cap instead? Type two or three letters into the same tool.

  • A standard golf ball, 42.67 mm
  • A fine permanent marker (a chisel tip is too broad for the corners)
  • About 14 g of PLA or PETG
  • A rubber band, if you want to hold the cap on through the tab holes

How to make it

  1. Print the file as exported: rim flat on the bed, dome up, with tree supports on (organic in PrusaSlicer).

  2. Peel the supports out of the inside of the dome.

  3. Wipe the ball clean so the ink bites, then seat the cap on top and press the rim down until it cups the ball.

  4. Draw through the opening with short strokes from the edges inwards.

  5. Lift the cap straight up and leave the ink for a minute before you touch it.

Questions about this design

Can the golf ball stencil letter F be confused with another letter on the ball?

Hardly. Drawn at this size, with a cap height of about 22 mm, its bottom arm is missing where an E has one, which is easy to see. If you play with someone who also marks an E, draw your F in a different colour and there is no doubt at all.

How do I print the golf ball stencil letter F?

Print it as exported, rim flat on the bed and the dome up, with tree supports switched on (organic in PrusaSlicer, tree in Bambu Studio, Orca and Cura). They hold up the inside of the dome and peel out easily. Sliced in PrusaSlicer 2.7.2 at 0.2 mm layers it takes about 1 h 11 min and 14 g of PLA.
