Love all over pillar candle mold

A 70 x 130 mm pillar candle with "LOVE" in raised letters in rows all round it. A rigid two-part print, no silicone.

Candle wax ~439 g

A pillar candle 70 mm across and 130 mm tall covered in raised "LOVE" lettering: five rows of bold rounded capitals running round the candle, every other row shifted half a word, like printed gift wrap. The top edge is softly rounded and it stands on a flat foot.

The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The pillar is split through its axis, and the lettering fades out smoothly where the seam crosses the sides, so no letter stands across the parting line and hooks the mold: the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. Front and back are fully lettered.

A Valentine's, wedding or anniversary centrepiece: pour it in white, blush or red and dry-brush the letters with gold or pearl mica. The zip carries both halves, the master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

Shown as a 3D render of the printed mold halves pulled apart around the candle they cast, not a photo.

How this mold works

What you need

3
  • About 461 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 513 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick rated for a 70 mm pillar, about 170 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across each funnel

How to cast it

5
  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports. PETG takes hot wax best.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor under the pour funnel, then close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets, trim the wick and level the top. Dry-brush mica over the letters if you like.

Questions about this design

Why do the letters fade at the sides of the love pillar candle?

That is where the two halves of the mold meet. A raised letter that crossed the seam would stand parallel to the way the half pulls off and lock it, so the lettering thins to nothing there. You see a full "LOVE" on the front and the back and a smooth band down each side.

Which wick does a 70 mm pillar candle need?

One wick rated for a 70 to 75 mm pillar, about 170 mm long so it reaches the clip above the funnel. Too small a wick tunnels and leaves a shell with the letters still standing; check the rating on the wick supplier's chart for your wax.

How do I make the LOVE letters stand out?

Pour the pillar in one colour, let it cool fully, then dry-brush gold, rose gold or pearl mica over it with a soft brush. The raised letters catch the powder and the background stays plain. A white pillar with gold letters is a classic wedding candle.
