Melt me wavy candle mold

A tall wavy candle with "melt me" in raised script running up the front. A rigid two-part print, no silicone.

Candle wax ~227 g

A wavy slab candle 128 mm tall, 58 mm wide and 28 mm deep: the whole slab snakes gently side to side as it rises, with rounded edges, and "melt me" in raised script runs up its front face along the wave, reading bottom to top. The back is smooth.

The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. The slab stands upright with the seam through its middle, parallel to the lettered face, so every raised letter lifts straight out of the front half, and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. No silicone needed.

A cheeky candle for a bedside table or a gift box: pour it in peach, blush or caramel and pick out the script in pearl mica. The zip carries both halves, the master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

Shown as a 3D render of the printed mold halves pulled apart around the candle they cast, not a photo.

How this mold works

What you need

3
  • About 163 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 181 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 30 to 40 mm candle, about 160 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across each funnel

How to cast it

5
  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports. PETG takes hot wax best.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor under the pour funnel, then close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets, trim the wick and cut the sprue off the top.

Questions about this design

How do I make the raised "melt me" letters stand out?

Pour the candle in one colour, then once it is cold dry-brush the letters with a little mica powder, or rub candle paint over them and wipe the flat face clean with a soft cloth. The raised script catches the colour and the slab stays plain.

Which wick does the melt me wavy candle need?

One wick up the middle, rated for a 30 to 40 mm wide candle, about 160 mm long: the slab is 128 mm tall and 28 mm deep, so the flame burns down through its middle. A flat wood wick suits the shape too.

Can I pour the melt me wavy candle in soy wax?

Use a soy pillar blend, not a container soy wax: container soy is too soft to stand on its own and smears the letters. Paraffin pillar wax, a pillar soy blend or beeswax all release cleanly from the rigid halves.
