◆ Candle wax
A sitting owl candle with ear tufts, big eyes and folded wings, as a silicone mold kit.
A sitting owl 84 mm tall: round body, ear tufts, big ringed eyes, a small beak, folded wings and two feet peeping out at the front, all built as one smooth shape so every join is softly filleted.
Made with the hugging-shell mode of our silicone mold maker, the mode the site's own mold advisor recommends for a figure like this. The shell follows the owl's outline, so it takes about 272 ml of silicone where a box would take much more. Print the base with the owl fused onto it and the two shell halves, pour, and cast in the flexible silicone mold that comes out.
The owl master is generated in code, so it is ours to share. The zip carries every printed part, the owl as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.
Shown as a 3D render of the printed mold parts pulled apart around the master, not a photo.

Print the base, which has the master already fused onto it, and the two shell halves. No supports.
Stand the shell halves on the base around the master and hold the seams shut with steel binder clips. The seats for them are built into the shell.
Tape the outside seams or run a bead of hot glue along them, because silicone finds every gap.
Mix 301 ml of silicone in one batch, pour it into the open top in a thin stream, and fill level with the rim.
Once it has cured, unclip the shell, lift it off and peel the silicone off the master. That silicone is your mold.
Set the silicone back in the shell to keep its shape, and cast into it through the opening the base left.

Silicone copies fine detail well, and the owl has no thin parts that would snap. Pour the silicone slowly into a corner so it rises around the owl rather than landing on it, and let air escape from under the tufts.
About 272 ml, so mix 301 ml in one batch. The tool's print-settings sheet in the zip has the full figures.
Yes. The same silicone mold takes melt-and-pour soap, resin, plaster or chocolate if you use a food-safe silicone. The sheet in the zip lists the amount for each.
