The mold is exactly what our two-part candle mold generator builds for it: two rigid halves with rubber-band grooves, pry pockets and a pour funnel on top. It is turned round one axis, so a seam through the middle releases it cleanly and the tool's own seam check finds nothing stuck. You pour straight into the print, no silicone.

Pour a few in soft pastels for a shelf, or in white with a gold wick for a table. The zip carries both halves, the master as its own STL, the tool's own print-settings sheet and a recipe file for the generator.

What you need

  • About 61 g of pillar wax: the cavity holds 68 ml
  • A tabbed, primed wick for a 40 mm candle, about 110 mm long
  • Rubber bands or clamps, and a clip or wick bar across the funnel

How to cast it

  1. Print both halves as exported. Clamp-strength settings: 4 walls, 40% gyroid infill, no supports.

  2. Drop a tabbed wick into one half so the tab sits on the cavity floor, close the halves and band them along the whole seam.

  3. Clip the wick centred across the pour funnel and pour at 65 to 75 C.

  4. Once the first pour is firm but still warm, top up the funnel. Wax shrinks, and the second pour fills the dip.

  5. Cool fully, open the halves at the pry pockets and trim the wick.

Questions about this design

Why can the stacked bubble candle be printed rigid when the bubble cube cannot?

The three balls sit on one axis, so every horizontal slice is a circle and a split through the middle releases them. In the bubble cube the bubbles sit side by side, and the waists between them lock any rigid split.

Does the stacked bubble candle burn safely with its narrow waists?

Yes, with a wick sized for the smallest ball, about 30 mm, and short burns. The waists are over 25 mm across, so the candle stays stable as the top ball melts down into the next.

What wax works best for the stacked bubble candle?

A hard pillar wax or a paraffin blend, about 61 g per candle. Soft container soy sticks to a printed mold and dents at the waists; if you want soy, pick a pillar soy blend and print the halves in PETG.
