◆ Candle wax
Nine faceted star wax melts per pour, from a silicone tray you make yourself.
A tray of nine five-pointed stars, 45 mm tip to tip and 13 mm deep. The face of each star is faceted: ten flat planes meet in a point at the centre, so the melts catch the light like a folded paper star.
Made with our tray mold generator in its flexible silicone tray mode. You print one part, a caster with a raised star in each of nine spots, pour silicone into it and peel out a flexible nine-star tray. The walls of the caster follow the stars, so the tray takes less silicone than a square box would.
The zip carries the printed caster exactly as the tool exported it, one star on its own as an STL, the master that went into the tool, and a print and pour sheet with the silicone figure the tool measured.
Shown as a 3D render of the printed caster with three star melts in front, not a photo.

Print the caster as exported, open side up. It is one part, so there are no seams to seal. No supports.
Set it on a level surface. Mix 314 ml of silicone in one batch and pour it into one corner in a thin stream, letting it flow round the raised shapes until it is level with the rim.
Tap the caster on the table for a minute to bring the bubbles up, then let the silicone cure for as long as its datasheet says.
Peel the cured silicone out of the caster. That silicone is your tray, and the caster is ready for another one.
Fill each cavity, let it set, then flex the tray and peel it back to pop the pieces out.

Pour the silicone slowly into one corner of the caster so it flows over the stars instead of trapping air on the facets, then tap the caster on the table for a minute. A bubble on a facet ruins its point; a bubble anywhere else does not matter.
Not if you peel the tray back from one side instead of pushing each star up from underneath. The points are thin, so let the wax set fully at room temperature first; 20 minutes in the fridge makes them release even more cleanly.
Yes, with a tin or platinum silicone rated for resin. The faceted face comes out glossy from silicone, so resin stars need no polishing, and at about 7 ml each a small kit of epoxy fills the whole tray several times.
